Powerbuilder + Informix

Problem: how to use Powerbuilder as a means of kicking off a UNIX level command. We need to have I4GL reports run on the server side so that they can be printed directly to UNIX printers. We think this idea might have merit: run a stored procedure that runs a 4gl report. Does any one see any problems with that? We want to then have the possibility of printing the same report on the PC side by storing the report in a blob and moving it back to the PC side where it will be printed. In other words : one 4gl report will allow us to print the report 1) on the UNIX side via "lp" or 2) on the PC side via Powerbuilder. Has anyone done anything like this? If so, by what means?
