Contrary to some postings in this thread, I don't believe this is an IP addressing problem (like "wrongly calculated IP addresses" or similar). If it were, any IP based network connection should have troubles, not just Informix. If you can ping, telnet etc. the machine, then the networking protocol layer is ok. What did you enter in the .rhosts files to make it work again? Client names (FQDN or just the machine name) or IP addresses? I have encountered problems in the past when the server couldn't resolve client addresses. Maybe you forgot to update your /etc/hosts file after the address change, or the network administrator forgot to update the DNS entries. When using Informix frontend products over Informix-Net or -Star, a .rhosts entry is always necessary. However, for ODBC connections, I havent seen this requirement, since the authorization information is stored in the ODBC client setup. Which ODBC driver are you using?
