One time, I just had a giant CASE block in the ON EVERY ROW clause that used module globals to decide everything (don't ask why!). Another time, I just wanted to use the BEFORE GROUP...AFTER GROUP stuff, so I ran a report then had function calls & cursors in the clauses. Never did ouput anything (except a couple bytes to /dev/null) from this report. From what John L has said, the inside is not pretty - and I do remember FORTRAN arithmetic IF branches. Unfortunately.
