Re: installing V11.5 on linux 64 bit.
Posted in 2009
A user installing IDS 11.5 on 64-bit Fedora 10 hit the Java-based installer failing with "could not load wizard specified in /wizard.inf (104)". Suggestions to force the bundled JRE (-javahome none, plus a similar hack) only produced a silent failure. Installing Sun's JRE got further, but then the installer complained that libm.so.6, libc.so.6 and libncurses.so.5 were missing even though they existed in /lib64. Running the installer with -debug and reading the log in /tmp/informix showed it looking under /usr/java/jre1.6.0_12/lib/amd64/server; creating symlinks to those libraries there let the install complete and the engine run. The underlying cause (installer bug vs. odd system setup) was never pinned down, amid general complaints about the Java installer.

This is a problem with the JRE environment on your machine. Retry your command line with the switch: -javahome none The switch forces installer to use JRE shipped with IDS. Also ensure .jvm.bin file is present in the directory where product files exist. Hello Fernando, Sundar, trying your hack and the one from Sundar resulted in a silent failure..... so i downloaded java and the install seems to work now. hello All, was a bit to fast: One or more prerequisite system libraries are not installed on your computer. Install libm.so.6, libc.so.6, libncurses.so.5 and then restart the IBM Informix installation program.. great where does the installer expect these files to be?? ls -l /lib64/libncurses.so.5 /lib64/libm.so.6 /lib64/libc.so.6 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 2009-01-22 19:39 /lib64/libc.so.6 -> libc-2.9.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 2009-01-22 19:39 /lib64/libm.so.6 -> libm-2.9.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2009-01-22 19:39 /lib64/libncurses.so.5 -> libncurses.so.5.6 Superboer
finally got it to install ran it with -debug as in the install script found out that the debug info was in /tmp/informix/ saw that it checked for /usr/java/jre1.6.0_12/lib/amd64/server created the sym links to the 'missing libs' there reran the install which installed.. i sure would advice you to seriously look at the install stuff it is really awful Superboer. 6466 root 20 0 1422m 315m 11m S 25.9 8.1 1:30.58 java On 22 feb, 15:50, superbo...@t-online.de wrote: > hello All, > > was a bit to fast: > One or more prerequisite system libraries are not installed on your > computer. All this supposedly "idiot-proof" Java-shite-based scripting for installs. I had a Tech Support call open for a failed install recently: basically the answer is "Tough Shit" if for some reason the Java-shite based install script fails - there is no workaround or alternative. Still, I'm sure some focus group of 10 "randomly-selected" users, all of whom just happened to be Java programming friends of the Developers, said a Java-based install program was perfect!"

The two major differences... Your first version was for a different kernel, and it was stripped. The second version was for kernel 2.4x and wasn't stripped. Even though you got it up and running, I wonder what would have happened if you weren't running a stripped jvm. > From: superboer7@t-online.de > Subject: Re: installing V11.5 on linux 64 bit. > Date: Mon, 23 Feb 2009 09:50:40 -0800 > To: informix-list@iiug.org > > Hello Fernando, > > no /etc/ld.conf > i do have a ld.so.conf which says: > > include ld.so.conf.d/*.conf > > ls /etc/ld.so.conf.d/ > kernel-2.6.27.5-117.fc10.x86_64.conf > --------------- > hwcap 0 nosegneg > --------------- > > qt-x86_64.conf > --------------------- > /usr/lib64/qt-3.3/lib > ---------------- > > xulrunner-64.conf > ------------------ > /usr/lib64/xulrunner-1.9 > --------------- > > mysql-x86_64.conf > ---------------------- > /usr/lib64/mysql > > > java is a binary > > old: > /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64/bin/java > /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64/bin/java: ELF 64-bit LSB > executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared > libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, stripped > > 'new': > file /usr/java/default/bin/java > /usr/java/default/bin/java: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version > 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.4.0, > not stripped > > > > ls /usr/lib64/xulrunner-1.9 > chrome greprefs libxpcom.so > platform.ini run-mozilla.sh xpt_link > components icons libxul.so > plugins updater xulrunner > defaults libjemalloc.so LICENSE > README.txt xpcshell xulrunner-bin > dependentlibs.list libmozjs.so modules > regxpcom xpidl xulrunner-stub > dictionaries libpyxpcom.so mozilla-xremote-client > res xpt_dump > > dono, hopefully it's helpful > > Superboer > > > > > > > > > On 23 feb, 12:06, Fernando Nunes <domusonl...@gmail.com> wrote: > > superbo...@t-online.de wrote: > > > Hello Fernando, > > > > >> You were installing in GUI or console mode? > > > gui. > > >> Your "java" (which java) is a script or binary file? > > > have to check i downloaded and installed java from sun did not look at > > > what java was... > > >> What is the setting of the ld (/etc/ld.conf ?) of your system? > > > can not access the machine, when i do i'll post. > > > > > BTW it does work now. engine is running..... > > > > > Superboer > > > > Yes...
