Multi-Volume ontape backup

Hi there, Informix gurus!
Here is my problem: I have just reached the capacity (14 Gb compressed) of my
tape drive (8mm) while backing up my IDS instance. Up to this point, the
instance would fit on a single tape.
I have picked up the "auto_ontape" script found on the iiug.org site. I
thought this would resolve my problem but unfortunately, I can't seem to get
it going.
My platform is : IBM RS6000 model J40
AIX 4.3.2
IDS 7.22.UC1
IBM 7331 Tape Library
I use IBM's "tapecntl" (an "mt" equivalent)command to manipulate tapes within
the library.
I am hoping not to have to use something else than ontape for the time being.
Perhaps some of you gurus will already have faced and overcome this problem.
Thanks in advance for any help.

What exactly is the problem, Daniel? Is it that you have no-one available
to switch tapes?
