OAT uninstallation errors
Posted in 2017
A user uninstalled CSDK 3.70.TC5 and OpenAdmin Tool (OAT), deleted the folders, then couldn't reinstall OAT: the installer claimed another instance existed, and Apache wouldn't start. Advice was to clear orphaned registry entries (e.g. with CCleaner or manually); that removed the duplicate-instance error but exposed an "installation directory cannot contain special characters" error, since OAT's Apache can't live under a path like "C:\\\\Program Files (x86)" and normally installs off C:\\\\. Installing to C:\\\\Program Files\\\\OpenAdmin got further, but the install finished with errors (missing ICLIT09B.dll) and Apache still wouldn't start; no full resolution is recorded, the user only speculating about downloading a newer version.

I had OpenAdmin Tool installed and working as part of the CSDK install. I uninstalled the CSDK and OAT using the respective uninstallers to test with a newer version of CSDK. I also deleted the folders in C:\\\\Program Files (x86). Now when I go to reinstall CSDK 3.70.TC5 and choose to install OAT in the 'Client SDK Features to install'. I get "ERROR: OAT does not allow multiple instances of installation. To reinstall OAT, first run the OAT uninstallation program........". Apache for OAT is not started and I am unable to restart it - "Unable to Start Service. The system cannot find the file specified". Clearly my OAT uninstallation was not clean. Are there registries I should clean out? I would like to do a complete install of CSDK including OAT. Thank you for any assistance with this.
Get a registry cleaner like C-Cleaner and let it clean up the orphaned registry entries for you. Then you should be OK. Art Art S. I ran CCleaner and tried the install and got the same message. Looks like CCleaner did not really clean the 'OpenAdmin' registry. I found and renamed the registry for "OpenAdmin", as well as tried the install with this registry intact. I also tried the install with "openAdmin' registry entries deleted. When its renamed or deleted (now its deleted) I get an error "Invalid Installation Directory. The installation Directory cannot contain special characters". My default CSDK install is in C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\IBM Informix Client SDK\\\\ Where does OAT install normally? I do not recall OAT installation to have such a special need.
OAT uses apache web server which can not contain special characters, in the path. This means it can not go into C:\\\\Program Files (x86), by default I thought it was installed off c:\\\\ John F. I cleaned out all references to OpenAdmin in the registry manually and restarted the PC. Then tried the CSDK + OAT install and got the same 'special character' error. CSDK 3.70.TC5 installs in C:\\\\Program Files (x86) by default. Since OAT is packaged with this install I do not know of a way to tell OAT to install in C:\\\\Program Files. Informix CSDK installs (and uninstalls) cleanly in C:|Program Files (x86) when I deselect OAT. Earlier I was testing with CSDK 4.10 which installs in C:\\\\Program Files. I have uninstalled OpenAdmin completely and deleted that folder.
You need to install in another directory that does not have spaces or other "special" characters in it. If you do the OAT only install (not from the SDK) it installs under C:/. Do a custom install and you should be able to install just the OAT files in another directory or the root. Art Art S. I was able to get further through the install by Installing under C:\\\\Program Files\\\\OpenAdmin. However I got an error "ICLIT09B.dll is missing". I went past that and the install completed 'with errors' and I was unable to get Apache to start. I wonder if downloading a more recent version from IBM Software Download location would help. https://www-01.ibm.com/marketing/iwm/iwm/web/preLogin.do?lang=en_US&source=swg-i nformixfpd Thank you, Art and John Miller, for getting me this far.
