Hello,
question for migration to ONBAR/ISM:
Today we are doing database backups with ontape or onarchive into the file
system only. Later the database backup files get copied to tapes with the
normal file system backup every day.
Now we want (ontape) or must (onarchive) change to ONBAR/ISM as backup tool.
Has anyone experience with such a configuration (backup of the databases to
file system first)?
How should we clean the ONBAR/ISM pools on the disks - simply delete old files
or 'unmount' the volumes (directories), move them and 'label/mount' a new one?
There is not enough disk space to hold many backup versions - in some cases
there is only enough disk space for one level-0 backup per IDS instance.

Onbar/ISM has a provision for filesystem backups. You can backup to filesystem
devices and then "clone" them to tape using ISM utilities. You clean the files
by unmounting & labeling the device.
