Hello, I'm looking for a way to get data out of a legacy system built with Informix 4.3.2 on an RS/6000. Is ODBC an option? Can anyone give me any other pointers? Thanks, NL

Informix never released a product with version 4.3.2 -- the version number has the wrong structure (it should match 4.56.UC7), and versions jumped from 4.1x to 5.00 (with I4GL 4.20 on Unix and some 4.20 versions on DOS -- yes, I mean DOS, as in before Windows). So, please can you identify the product more exactly? Is it SE - Standard Engine - with data kept in .dat and .idx files in a database.dbs directory? Or is it some OnLine or IDS version, with a file $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG (or $TBCONFIG)? Some other hardware vendors did do some repackaging - but not on IBM and RS/6000. Of course, 4.3.2 is a valid version for AIX -- somewhat archaic, but valid. If you have some version of Informix running on an AIX box, then ODBC is likely to be an option; it depends on exactly how archaic the Informix software is. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
