Informix 4.1 Screen 'flash'

A number of us here have discovered - after the switch from 4gl 4.0 to 4.1 - that every time our programs leave a function the screen clears. Is this a 'feature'? Is there a cure? Are we doing something stupid? - I mean more stupid than usual. It's rather obnoxious when you have a function whose sole purpose is to display data which is provided by other functions - because each time you leave the display-function you see a 'flash' of the data you were trying to display followed by a blank screen.
