RE: IDS 7.30 Limits on IN condition within SQL Select statement
Posted in 1999
Can't comment on 7.30 but I've one my standards scripts limits the number of
values in the list 2048 and I've never had a problem with this number of
list values, I've just re-tested in on SE5.1x . I have a very vague memory
of someone in CDI suggesting 2048 was the max it could do.

Subject: IDS 7.30 Limits on IN condition within SQL Select statement
We are running IDS 7.30.UC7-1 on an AIX platform. Connection to the
Informix
database is made through ICONNECT 2.01 from Windows NT workstations
using the Intersolv DataDirect 2.01 driver.
Our Business Objects users say that Informix is limiting them to a maximum
of 100 values
in a list following an "IN" condition. For example:
SELECT ....
FROM ...
WHERE column_1 IN (<list of values>);
Is there such a limit on the IN condition? If so, can it be overridden?
Or is there a limit on the size a SELECT statement?
I suspect that performance will degrade with such a large list, but
I have no been able to find any mention of a limit within Informix
documentation.
Your assistance in clarifying this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick
