Linking GRASS with Informix references wanted

I am trying to link Informix with GRASS using the commands created by Farley and Song, etal. I have read their article "Attribute Management, Data Integration and GIS Links to SQL Databases." It is a good overview, but lacking in any real guidance. Are there any other such references discussing how to use these commands to their fullest potential? Are there workshops? Thanks for any info.
