Thank you for your answers and ACE documentation is around, but you have to know where to find it. It used to be in the guides to SQL, but now is in the product documentation for Informix-SQL. For the definitive answer, you can check the IIUG archives. I went through several hoops before I got it figured out, and posted the results there. See: http://www.iiug.org and follow the links down to the CDI archives. Using the Glimpse search engine you can type in the following string "ACE;manual" (good luck with that query syntax. Fortunately, there are links to the man pages to help us poor souls to figure it out.) My answer is 1995.11/cdib.11947 .
