[Q] Best UNIX System for a System to Contain Multiple DB Packages
Posted in 1995
I have recently purchased a Pentium 120 and am about to purchase a second 2GB Hard Disk onto which I plan to install UNIX and, as time and money allows, install INFORMIX, ORACLE, SYBASE and other packages. I know LINUX is available but it is not usuable for INFORMIX and maybe for the other items as well. I have used SCO UNIX in the past but encountered quite a few problems using INFORMIX 5. (I do plan to get INFORMIX 7, though -- maybe they have a better history ?) Should I get SCO UNIX for my machine, or have others on here installed two or more of the aforementioned database packages onto another UNIX environment with better success ? Thanks for the advice. -- ******************************************************************************* Clifton M. Bean USENET: clifton@egsner.cirr.com Computer Innovations and Consulting, Inc.
