You will have a hard time tuning this system until you upgrade your OS to HPUX 10.20+ with Informix 7.24+. HPUX 10.01 was incredibly buggy. It had problems with allowing residency residency and with some of the process control algorithms. We upgraded a system like this and got 3-5 fold improvements in some areas. Are you getting any processes that seem to suddenly hog the entire system, with no known reason? We had them and they went away with 10.20/IDS 7.24.
