Greetings.
I am attempting to connect to a database server from a different host.
Both are Sun systems running Solaris 2.5.1 and the Informix DB is Online
Workgroup 7.22.
So we can eliminate a few things, here is what I've done:
I've set /etc/hosts to include both machines, host1 and host2
--(I've tried both fully qualified and not qualified names)
I've set /etc/hosts.equiv to include the unqualified names and qualified
names and IP
I've set /etc/services to include all of the appropriate ports.
I've set all the usual env variables (INFORMIXDIR, INFORMIXSERVER,
ONCONFIG, INFORMIXSQLHOSTS, PATH) on the server side. I've tried
various combinations of these settings on the client-side, from setting
none to setting INFORMIXDIR and INFORMIXSQLHOSTS.
I've set onconfig to include an extra alias for its own listener thread.
I have a mirror copy of INFORMIXSQLHOSTS on the client, along with a
copy of dbaccess to test the connection.
I've even set, which I understand isn't necessary for Unix-Unix
connections, LANG, CLIENT_LOCALE, DB_LOCALE, DBLANG.
All I get is -23101 Unable to load locale categories.
Odd thing is, despite setting the lang stuff in the informix start/stop
script, all I see in the sysdbslocale tables is en_US.819
What am I missing?!?!?!? The client should not need a copy of Informix
installed or running, should it? Is there some obscure setting I'm
missing? I shouldn't need SQLEXEC, as its 7.22.
Any and all help will be most appreciated, as I'm about out of hair to
pull.
