Re: Is it possible to timeout 4GL?

->Hello, ->We are looking for a way to timeout 4GL programs when there is no terminal ->response after n minutes. The problem we are having is as follows: There is no way to do this completely within 4GL. I have done something Assuming you are using i4gl: In order to call a C routine from a 4GL utility, I use a make file which tacks on some code to the .c file before calling c4gl again with the .c file as parameter. (You could also use sed, csplit,or awk, depending how complex the changes are.) Doing this would give you access to the alarm() function of C. How does 4GL react to SIGALRM? A test I did for you with 4.1 results in an immediate exit from the program, after printing the message 'Alarm call'. Using the Kourne shell of SCO Unix, the .4ge returns a non zero status, which you may need to pick up because the stty settings will be unusual.
