Basic Text Search and ER

The following is taken out of the IDS 11 Manual - when it says Replication is not supported, what does that really mean? If I have replication in place, can I not use the basic Text Search Datablade? How is this database different from the Excalibur datablade for IDS 10? *** The database server has the following requirements and restrictions for the Basic Text Search DataBlade module: Minimum requirement is IBM® Informix® Dynamic Server, Version, 11.10. Basic Text Search can be used with most multi-byte character sets and supports GLS including UTF-8. The exception is ideographic languages such as Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Replication is not supported: Enterprise Replication and high availability solutions (High-Availability Data Replication, Remote Standalone secondary servers, and Shared Disk secondary servers). Distributed queries are not supported. Parallel Database Queries (PDQs) are not supported. **** Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!! The main difference between Excalibur and Basic Text Search is that Excalibur provides a lot of filters to search within OpenOffice, PDF, Word, Tif, ... and up to 160 formats. Basic Text Search can only be used on ASCII-Formats and does not have these filters. The restriction on Enterprise Replication is very interesting, because i use Excalibur and BTS with active CDR on three nodes without a problem. You should ask tech-support on this restriction and post the answer here! thats what I was hoping that meant. so any installs/upgrades, etc of the datablade have to be done manually on every server - Thanks a bunch for the reply!! laurie >>> "Madison Pruet" <mpruet@us.ibm.com> 09/14/07 10:44 AM >>> In order to support UDTs, there must be streaming UDRs which are regist= ered to place the UDT into the replication stream.
