We have been using On-Line 5.x/Solaris 2.3 on a SS10/40 now for 8 months. Early on we had many Solaris system related problems but the system has now been made stable with the installation of various Solaris patches. We have not had a failure in months. The only Informix problems I have are related to the fact that Solaris is a SYS 5.4 based OS but Informix's ESQL/C product links to Solaris' notoriously bugging libbsd.a(BSD compatibility library). However, I have been able to work around these problems. As for the On-Line engine, we have had no problems. Our system is now live and all production code has been ported to the Solaris platform. My last task before I start work at Informix is to move the production system over to a new SS20/514 system that just arrived today. Hopefully there are not any unusual problems related to the multiple processors. PS I look forward to having the opportunity to join the great team at Informix. -- Daniel Wood daniel@starsight.com The opinions expressed herein are those of myself, my employers, the carriers of this news message or any other messages for that matter, you the reader and any of your relations(whether by birth or chromosome count), all life forms and all inanimate objects.
