How to incorporate Ispell into I-4gl program
Posted in 1994
I am refining an I-4GL/RDS application and need to add on-line spell checking. There are several tables involved with varchar(255) columns. These columns are "free-text" in nature but spelling errors are undesirable. Currently I put the varchar value into a string, use "run" to echo the string to unix spell, catch the errors in a tmp file, and finally display the error list to the user with yet another "run" and "less". Obviously this is not ideal, but it works. I really want to use ispell for its better local dictionary management and potential interactive corrections.I cannot find any way to read a system string into a form field which might work. Anybody have any ideas. Thanks ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Harold L.
