Problem with SET EXPLAIN ON

Hi, I am working on INFORMIX version 5.01. When I try to do SET EXPLAIN ON, I get the foll. error message - 581 : Error loading message file. According to Error Message Manual : server may be unble to find the file of message templates it uses while preparing explainatory output. Can anyone tell me what this file is ?.
