Steven,
A transaction is a recoverable unit of work. It must be completed in
totality or it will be rolled back.
A long transaction is a transaction which spans too much of the log file
and is rolled back because it has reached a configurable limit.
Sometimes a long transaction can not be rolled back because the "rollback"
entries in the log file take up space as well and fill the log file. This
condition will cause a system hang.
If you use the dbaccess "load from filename" it will create a single
transaction that could fill up your logs and result in a long transaction.
If you are concerned about this, then you need to split the load file
into smaller files.
