Using ontape to restore specific dbspaces

I have a backup with ontape on disk. Due to some data corruption, we
might need to restore specific dbspaces. These chunks are marked as
online and not down. Is there going to be an issue to restore the
specific dbspaces with them being marked as online? If there is, can I
trick the system to making Informix think that these specific dbspaces
are down?
Informix version 9.30.FC2
OS Sun Solaris 5.8
Thanks in advance.

This should not be a problem.

Hi Keith,
restoring dbspaces that are marked online is not a problem.
ontape -r D (dbspace list) should work fine. The main thing you will need todo though is have logical log that the archive used to move the dbspace out of
PI.
Below is a sample restore of a single dbspace :
(informix) /home/informix > ontape -r -D m1
DBspace 'm1' is online; restoring 'm1' will bring all chunks
comprising the DBspace OFFLINE and will terminate all active
transactions and queries accessing the DBspace.

Please mount tape 1 on /products/informix/instance_info/wm_current/tapedev and
press Return to continue ...

Recommendation: continue the warm restore until log 10 is replayed.
The last log that has been restored is: 9. If you want to stop the
restore at this log, choose commit, otherwise, choose suspend.
If you have not performed a backup that includes the log 10,
perform a backup using the ontape -a command. Continue the suspended
log restore using the ontape -l command.Do you want to suspend (y), commit (n)
or abort (CTRL/C) logical restore?
