I-Net to multiple Online instances on one server
Posted in 1994
Dear Informix gurus,
here I am again with a new problem.
I just created a second Online instance on our server (using another
TBCONFIG as described in the manual). Everything went fine. I also
started a sqlexecd server process (I-Star) for that instance, using
a servicename that I had previously defined in /etc/services with
its own port number. This is Online/Star version 5.01 on a SNI RM400
running SINIX 5.41.
On a client running I-Net version 5.01, I have the following
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts:
OPSERVER olsoctcp GANS1X sqlexec
DBPERS olsoctcp GANS1X sqlpers
With that setting, I have no problem accessing both servers. All
I have to do is set the appropriate $DBPATH, and all is well.
Another client is a SNI MX300-30 running SINIX 5.24 and Informix-Net 4.1.
On that machine, $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts looks like this:
OPSERVER tcp GANS1X sqlexec
DBPERS tcp GANS1X sqlpers
With $DBPATH set to //GANS1X, I have no problem accessing the Online
system OPSERVER. When I set $DBPATH to //DBPERS to access the other
system, I get the following error message:
930: Cannot connect to remote host DBPERSAddress already in use
The same happens when I set $DBPATH to //OPSERVER:
930: Cannot connect to remote host OPSERVERAddress already in use
Of course, there are the appropriate entries in /etc/services. I think
I followed every step in the manuals, but no go.
Any ideas? Is this a general incompatibility between I-Net 4.1 and
I-Star 5.01?
Regards, Richard
