Re: It's incredible

I can't hold back. I echo the feelings of several of my peers out there. Informix stuff works a whole heck of a lot better than some things that I've seen and I have yet to run into a bug that I couldn't somehow work around. I've been working with Informix products for 8 years. I have yet to run into a database that works better under Unix and I have yet to run into an OS that makes more sense than Unix for what I do. Ergo... I have also not seen this OUTER JOIN bug - care to elaborate? As for empowering the user (from Jairo). - I'd like to see Progess scale as well as Informix. - I agree that 4gl is not. - You don't have to create forms to open windows. - Field integrity CAN be set in the data dictionary. - I do reports all the time, many of them fairly complex, without resorting to external tools like perl, awk or shell. I also do shell and awk programs all the time without resorting to 4gl, some folks even think their^H^Hy're complex. If you use the product at all then a class on it may empower you. just my $.02 j. _____________________________________________________________________________ Jack Parker - Hewlett Packard, BSMC Boise, Idaho, USA jparker@hpbs3645.boi.hp.com _____________________________________________________________________________ "A thing is bigger for being shared" - Gaelic _____________________________________________________________________________ Any opinions expressed herein are my own and not those of my employers. _____________________________________________________________________________
