Seems to me that an INPUT command in 4gl on solaris is core dumping for no reason. i.e. DATABASE ipa@tater DEFINE state like bil.state MAIN OPEN FORM form1 FROM "form1" DISPLAY FORM form1 INPUT BY NAME state END MAIN The above began core dumping after an upgrade to 7.3 (solaris). The state field IS in the form file and also the bil table in the ipa database. Anybody gotta clue on this? Thanks!

However, we would need to get a lot of information from you to debug this. Let's see. We need to know which version of I4GL you are using, which version of IDS you are using, whether they are in the same INFORMIXDIR, and which order you installed them in. If you changed I4GL, did you recompile? -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>

One problem I encountered after upgrading the DB server to IDS 7.30 was automatic conversion of all CHAR fields to NCHAR. That caused all old applications that were not NCHAR aware to bomb. If you want to use an old application against a new server running 7.30, you must go through the Relay Module. Informix will write into string constants and so you have to use the -fwritable-strings option, if so. -- Forte International, P.O. The problem was the -fwritable-strings option in the gcc compiler. thanks for all the help!! ronald@forte-intl.com wrote: > > steve farris <stevef@statenet.com> writes: > > Seems to me that an INPUT command in 4gl on solaris is core dumping for > > no > > reason. i.e. > > > > DATABASE ipa@tater > > DEFINE state like bil.state > > MAIN > > OPEN FORM form1 FROM "form1" > > DISPLAY FORM form1 > > INPUT BY NAME state > > END MAIN > > > > The above began core dumping after an upgrade to 7.3 (solaris).
