CSDK downloads
Posted in 2007
Neil Truby couldn't find CSDK 2.90.TC6 for Windows on the IBM/Informix download pages, seeing only 2.90.TC4R1 as the latest. Carsten Haese pointed out the listing is confusing: filtering for Windows 2000 and sorting by release date puts 2.90.TC4R1 (Apr 2007) first, with 2.90.TC6 (Oct 2006) immediately below it — so TC6 is there, just not newest by date. The thread then drifts into an unrelated question about the real maximum BUFFERS value on IDS 9.40FC9/Solaris 10 (shared memory resident pool creation fails at 20,000,000 buffers); only a suggestion to check OS shared-memory limits was offered, with no resolution recorded.

If you limit to Windows 2000 and sort by newest release date, 2.90TC4R1 is indeed at the top with a release date of 17 Apr 2007. Right under that is 2.90.TC6 with a release date of 02 Oct 2006. Hi
Does anyone know what is real maximum number (not from release notes) of BUFFERS parameter for IDS
9.40FC9 for Solaris 10? Exact Solaris version is: Solaris 10 11/06 s10s_u3wos_10 SPARC.
Situation:
We have new computer with more than 100GB of memory.
With our's 9.40FC7 I get an error when I try to allocate 20000000 BUFFERS.
This is real output:
>oninit -vChecking group membership to determine server run modesucceeded
Reading configuration file '/app/informix/ids9/etc/onconfigrep'...succeeded
Creating /INFORMIXTMP/.infxdirs ... succeeded
Creating infos file "/app/informix/ids9/etc/.infos.onlinerep" ...
"/app/informix/ids9/etc/.conf.onlinerep" ... succeeded
Writing to infos file ... succeeded
Checking config parameters...succeeded
Allocating and attaching to shared memory...succeeded
Creating resident pool 4597566 kbytes...FAILED
oninit: Fatal error in shared memory creation
onconfig shm parameters are:
BUFFERS 20000000 # if BUFFERS is 15000000 everything is fine
SHMBASE 0x200000000L # Shared memory base addres
SHMVIRTSIZE 16384000
SHMADD 8192000
SHMTOTAL 120000000
When I use IDS v11 I can allocate 20000000 with no questions asked.
BUFFERPOOL size=2K,buffers=20000000,lrus=32,lru_min_dirty=0.500000,lru_max_dirty=1.000000
SHMBASE 0x200000000L # Shared memory base address
SHMVIRTSIZE 16384000 # initial virtual shared memory segment size
SHMADD 8192000 # Size of new shared memory segments (Kbytes)
SHMTOTAL 0 # Total shared memory (Kbytes). 0=>unlimited

Are there any operating system limitations for shm size?
