Point your tape device to /dev/null in the config file. Bring Engine up/down. Then do level zero turning loging on! Repoint your tape device to actual tape device for instance rmt0. Bring Engine up/down and then start program that actually needs logging on. 4 steps (the UP and down of Online may not be needed, yet with 5.x. I find safter to insure it got config file changes), yet it beats waiting 5 to 6 hours for LEVEL 0 to finish.
