Sounds perfectly feasible to me with OnLine (I assume you don't *really* mean Ingres or you wouldn't be here!). There are different storage options to help keep performance up if the traffic is going to be really heavy. A good physical disk placement strategy is important too. Provided you do this, storage and retrieval will work clean as a whistle. Making sense of the BLOB contents is up to the front-end software; if the documents are text-only, any old front end will handle it (eg Informix-4GL), but if the BLOBS contain graphics or hypertext, then obvioudly you'd need something appropriate at the front end to decode them. OnLine merely acts as a repository. Viewpoint, Hyperscript and NewEra can all do this to some reasonable level. akent@cix.compulink.co.uk (Andy Kent) -------------------------------------
