Just a quick and dirty summary:
DBA wants to change database ownership from users to Informix without
having to inconvenience users (says it's practically impossible), cook
a dbexport, bounce, and reload. (He doesn't say, but sounds like an
Online/IDS system). Fiddling with the sysmaster and system tables might
also be a problem and lead to inconsistencies. Is there any utility -
Art, are you listening? - to do this?
Hope this helps,
Nick

No Nick, there is no way to change the owner of a database beyond dropping
it and recreating it, or similarly create new database, load from the old
one, drop the old one, rename the new one. Sorry.
But, why would one care what the owner of the database is? Except in an
ANSI MODE database it has no effect on anything and for ANSI MODE you
just have to specify the owner all over the place so one owner is as
annoying as another. Just grant the correct permissions and go on with
life, I say.
Does Nito have some other problem he hopes to solve? Maybe that is what
we need to know! Please relay this to Nito.
