As of versions 6.x and 7.x of the Informix engines --- the communication libraries have been re-engineered. Therefore, earlier toolset such as 4.x and 5.x are no longer compatible. You can, however, continue to use 4.x and 5.x toolsets, but you must use the Informix Relay module (which translates 4.x, 5.x calls into the new 6.x 7.x calls.) 4GL V.6 does not have tons of new languange features --- its *major* focus is the change in the communcation libraries so that *NO* relay module is needed. Avoid the relay module and recompile using 4GL V.6 for best performance. Good Luck, J. Dority
