ON-Bar database server is dismissing the logical
Posted in 2016
ON-Bar log backups failed with errors -43336/-43338 ("database server is dismissing the logical logs") on IDS 11.70.FC8W1 under Linux. The poster had followed the IBM technote and changed LTAPEDEV from /dev/null to a real device, but the error persisted. Martin Fürderer and Art Kagel pointed out that editing LTAPEDEV directly in the ONCONFIG file only takes effect after restarting the engine (alternatively use onmode -wf). After bouncing the server, the backup worked, confirming the fix.

Hi, are you sure that you restarted the server after changing the parameter LTAPEDEV in the configuration file ? This will make the change effective ... Did you change LTAPEDEV in the ONCONFIG file manually or using onmode -wf?
If you made the change manually then it will not take effect until you
bounce the engine.

Thanks Martin for confirmation.
Yes, I have to restart the IDS.
It is test server and testing few scripts.
I will update accordingly; based on IDS restart and onbar backup completion.
Thanks.

Thanks Art.
I manually updated the value for LTAPEDEV in onconfig.
And about to bounce the IDS but, was in between so it left back as it.
Also same time want to confirm; will there be any alternate.
No issue, I will confirm based on next IDS bounce and onbar backup.
Thanks.

Pravin:
Was "will there be any alternate" a question? Not clear what you are
asking if it was.

Thanks Art and Martin. IDS bounce worked as onconfig was changed for LTAPEDEV earlier. Thanks, ~ Pravin Bankar
