Fragmentation and OLTP

We are in the processes of developing an OLTP application, which will be accessing an Informix 7.1 server, running on a SMP system (Sequent). We are trying to determine what, if any, fragmentation strategy, is the right one. I've previously thought of fragmentation as benefitting more the DSS application, but suspect gains can be achieved for OLTP. While the best fragmentation strategy is, truly application and system configuration dependent, I'd like to get an idea of what other people are doing, or how they determined their respective fragmentation scheme. Any and all comments, except flames, are welcome.
