OK, I'll make some assumptions:
1. You're on the HP console.
2. You just want to dbaccess or onmonitor up.
My experience with HP terms is to leave Informix's termcap alone -
HP's works much better.
So:
1. unset TERMCAP
2. TERM=hp
3. export TERM
should work.
If, for some reason, you *do* want to use Informix's termcap, then:
1. TERMCAP=$INFORMIXDIR/etc/termcap
2. export TERMCAP
3. TERM=whatever
4. export TERM
