I've verified that I have gotten the TAB character into the
DBDELIMITER correctly. Yes, this isn't easy. I'm using a
K-shell, not C-shell, so I've gone a different path. What
I ended up doing is changing the IFS environment variable
to only space. This is the variable that determines what
the shell interprites as white space. Once that is done
I can include TAB in an export statement.
export DBDELIMITER="<tab>"
I verified that I have a TAB by testing with a statement:
echo :$DBDELIMITER:
After I set the variable I tried loading the data file.
It's a fairly small file, only in the order of 8k rows,
so I don't have the size problem you refer to, but I get
an error on the first line which indicates that Informix
has trouble with the DBDELIMITER:
10099: Invalid delimiter. Do not use '\\\\', hex digits (0-9, A-F, a-f), or spa 847: Error in load file line 1.
I would appriciate any other ideas people have, and send thanks
to those people who've responded.
