I do know the > TEN rule (Tools Engine Network), so 4GL/SQL have to be installed > before Dynamic Server, but what about the ClientSDK and Connect? Client SDK is the Software Development Kit which is a set of tools including ESQL/C, JDBC, CLI etc. It gets installed before IDS. As to which of the tools to install first, always install newer versions last. Since the SDK is essentially ESQL/C 9.xx etc it is the last to be installed. Since the various SDK tools carry the same version # their relative order does not matter same with I4GL -vs- R4GL -vs- ISQL. Informix connect only has to be installed on client machines that have no engine (or have an older version of the engine but need latest version executables to run). It contains message files and libraries that are installed as part of the SDK and engine. Art S. Kagel
