Problem, when starting Online

Hello out there,
I've a big problem with one of my database servers. After a reboot of
the Unix system, Informix Online is not coming up. In the logfile, I've found
following error messages:
--------------------
17:25:24 INFORMIX-OnLine Initialized -- Shared Memory Initialized
17:25:24 Physical Recovery Started
17:25:24 Checkpoint Completed
17:25:24 Physical Recovery Complete: 0 Pages Restored
17:25:25 Dropping temporary partition 1000003, recovering 8 pages.
17:25:25 INFORMIX-OnLine Must ABORT Log Error 'logsetup() - Overwrite log'
us 0x101b90 pid 367 us_flags 0x301
tx 0x102c70 tx_flags 0x200003 tx_loguniq 0 tx_logpos 0x0
17:25:25 -- Online Aborting -- us=101b90, pid=367, uid=0
*** WARNING: INFORMIX-OnLine daemon is no longer running ***
--------------------
Can anybody tell me, what's happening here? On the same machine runs a second
instance of online with no probs! Are there problems with the logical logs and
the fast recovery? What can I do?
My environment:
Olivetti LSX 5040
System V Release 4 Version 2.2
Informix Online 4.10.UG2
Informix Star 4.10.UG2
Any help is appreciated ...
Thanks in advance!

Is it possible that the chunks from one instance overlap those of the other? You haven't been using my aspace utility have you? Aspace prevents overlapping extents between instances. It is part of utils_ak in the IIUG Software Repository. Art S. Kagel

I've never seen this before, and that's saying something. At a guess, since you
mention that someone rebooted the machine, your logical log is corrupt. You
should call Informix Tech Support; the only way to bypass Logical Recovery is if
they dial up.

wow. This is ancient. I honestly don't even know if Tech Support tools will work
on this version. How recent is your last archive, and do you back up your logical
logs? Just don't play forward any very recent logs (e.g. anything that's still on
disk now.)
Good luck. And tell your buddy not to go rebooting machines ungracefully anymore.
