Sounds like a sales pitch to me! Sorry, I don't buy it. I am running an INFORMIX 7.1 database on an AT&T GIS 3555. This server is running 5 instances of the INFORMIX engine with a total of 250 GB of disk on-line (almost all full too), 8 90MHz pentium processors and about 300 users in total. We are barely scratching the power in this box. CPU uitilization rarely goes above 20%. As to constant tuning, I have adjusted tuning parameters maybe three times in the last 4 months and that has taken all of 10 minutes.
