Informix 7.30 supports LOWER() and UPPER() functions, but I'm not sure you would want to use them to do case-insensitive searches anyway -- performance will be sub-optimal. If you don't care about sub-optimal performance, you can write your own LOWER() function in SPL. See my "unofficial Informix FAQ" (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Bridge/4578/faq.html) for more info. I would expect that Sybase's LOWER and UPPER functions would have the same limitations. Don't know for sure, but can't think of any way it would not. June -- june_t@hotmail.com Grounded in Palo Alto, living on M&M's (plain)
