RE: blobspaces

Maria Yes there are. When a blob is stored in a regular tablespace, any = changes are logged in the physical and logical log and they are also = brought in through the buffer cache. When a blob is stored in a = blobspace, the physical and logical logging are bypassed and they are = read in/written out directly bypassing the buffer cache. However = blobspaces can be recovered (internally by Informix) in case of failure. A good rule of thumb is to store blobs of size greater than 1 page in = blobspaces. Otherwise using regular tablespaces for large blobs will = result in high swapping in the buffer cache and also requires you to = configure large logical and physical logs.
