Hello, A client has a row type, and 3 tables "under" that type. I need to alter ( lengthen some fields in those tables ). How do I do this ? Do I somehow alter the row type and the other children tables will be altered automatically ? What about indexes that were created on those fields ? Thanks much. Floyd sending to informix-list

You unload the data from all the tables. You drop the tables. You drop the old versions of the row types. You create the new versions of the row types. You create the new tables. You reload the old data into the new tables. Yes - it is painful. There is a feature request for this - I don't remember the number - and you should add your company to the list of those affected by the absence of the feature. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2005.02 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
