Column Naming

Hi all, I have a quick question on informix column naming convention, hope you can help. Q: What is the maximum characters allows for column's name? As i know, informix only allow max 16 characters of column name. It's true? How can i extent the column size to 32 characters? I need this so that my current application can integrate with my thid part software. Thank you in advance, kitming

It depends on the release. IDS 7.31 has a limit of 18 characters. IDS 2000 (9.21) allows up to 128 charachters. archer_kit ha scritto nel messaggio <3A67BFA8.DE5A0899@hotmail.com>... the only way to extend the column size to more than 32 characters is to upgrade to IDS.2000 (ver 9.2x).
