Memory configuration on HP, Informix 7.31

I am trying to give Informix all the memory it can have. We are running 7.31.FC2 on HP-UX B.11.00 A 9000/800 with 1 Gb of RAM, there are no other applications running on the box, only Informix. I can give Informix about 700 Meg with RESIDENT set to 1 with no problems, but when I set RESIDENT to -1 it runs fine then crashes. Just wondering if anyone could offer some information on how much memory should Informix be allowed to have, is 700 Meg too much? Am I choking the operating system? Do I need to reconfigure a kernel parameter to allow Informix to have more memory? As always, any information will be greatly appreciated.
