Bottlenecking either can be a headache. > 1. Do we put the data into multiple DBSpaces? Before this can really be answered you need to determine what the data looks like and how it will be accessed. If you fragment data across multiple dbspaces, you can benefit from fragment elimination and/or parallelism. > 2. Do we separate the indexes from the data or put the whole lot into one big pool? Indexes can be more efficient if you detach them but leave them in the same dbspaces as the data for the same reasons as above (fragment elimination, parallelism) plus it takes up less space than detaching in separate dbspaces. I believe there are also benefits in being able to attach/detach index fragments without rebuilding the entire index, but I'm not sure if that's been implemented yet or what the conditions have to be. Disclaimer: My experience is with 7.x and 8.x, so my assumptions are made on those versions. I'm sure I'll be corrected if they don't apply to 9.x --Chuck
