It's such an obvious feature I hardly understand why it isn't allready in there. I hope Informix will put it on there list if they haven't allready. Of course this shouldn't be system wide only. It should be possible to execute any set of sql statements at connect time based at least on the following (to the extent the information available): 1. Username 2. Terminal ID (port name with Unix serial terminals, machine name when using TCP/IP connections or other solutions) 3. Program name (For programs running on the server it shouldn't be hard to send the programname to the engine. I-Connect should implement it for programs running on a client.) For this to be realy usefull there should of course be a simple graphical administration program where all these parameters for currently connected users was displayed and one could put in options for these and every other username, terminal id and program name. I realize this would require some possibly significant changes in the connection libraries and other software Informix supplies. However both the ability to set all kinds of parameters and the added level of security one could achieve would be such a significant advantage that it should be done. I don't think this is available from any of the competitors, and as soon as people realize what they can do with it the selling point for Informix wouldn't be a minor one.
