Dear Greg, I also use Informix 7.12 on Digital Unix v3.2. Actually, you need to upgrade from Informix 7.11 to v7.12. v7.11 goes down a lot. I also have the kaio problem. I transfer(automate) about 3.5G of data every night from OLTP to DSS using combination of sql load/unload and onload/onunload. You have an option to use informix aio or kaio. The later is faster. Read the release note on how to increase the kaio. The release note is in $INFORMIXDIR/etc (ONLINE_7 file) (I think). On Digital Unix you use sysconfigdb command to adjust your kaio. This way use don't have to rebuild your kernel. syconfig -q rt display the current value. Adjust max_aio between 500-1000. I think the default is 64.
