Re: Informix JAPI : Can't find class

Your CLASSPATH is not set correctly. That the running applet is in the same director as the one's you are looking for doesn't help. CLASSPATH must be set correctly. Also, watch out for Netscape 4.03 as it is not fully Java 1.1 compliant (the only one that fulfils that requirement is 4.02 with all the Java 1.1 patches), but in this case that really shouldn't matter. The easiest way to solve this sort of thing is to run it through the Appletviewer, NOT the browser. Also, how do you run it= Do you have a web server on the machine, or do you use the "file::" syntax for the URL? I think DDJ is probably pretty much OK for what it does, but you still need a proper development tool, not just the SDK. Someone might claim that this isn't so, and from a technical point of view, it isn't, but in real life, you need Cafe, J-Builder or whatever. I'd say Cafe, which is what I use. If you run these classes from Cafe in debug mode, you can see what is wrong in no time at all, at least that helped me. Without having Cafe, it would have taken me much much longer to fix (and yes, of course you can use JDB directly, but I'm not into S&M)... RMI works fine with Netscape 4.x browsers. What is lacking in 4.03, which is there in the 4.02 patch, are some classes (which only works with 4.02). I've had this stuff working with Appletviewer, "File::" URL, a Webserver and as standalone Java applications (which of course needed some tinkering with the code). Hope this helps, and if not, let me know and I'll have a second look at what I did to make it work...
