Fatal error asfcode = '25507'
Posted in 2003
Jimmy Derneby could not start a fresh IDS 9.30.UC2E3 on Red Hat 7.3 and got an ASF initialization error, asfcode 25507. Mark Stock and Martin Fuerderer pointed to the sqlhosts file, NETTYPE and communications setup. Jimmy solved it: he had used tlitcp instead of soctcp in both sqlhosts and onconfig.

Don't know what 25507 is off the top of my head, but ASF errors usually
mean you have a problem with your sqlhosts file contents.

Hi everybody!
thanks for your help, i used wrong NETTYPE value (tlitcp instead of soctcp )
in both sqlhosts and onconfig.
I have to read the machine notes more carefully next time i set up a new
server.

Hi,
I guess this is a configuration problem.
Usually such an error means there's something wrong with
your communications setup (of the IDS Server).
Check the following things :
- $ONCONFIG file parameters :
DBSERVERNAME
DBSERVERALIASES
NETTYPE
- sqlhosts file entries
- $INFORMIXSQLHOSTS env variable set ?
- $INFORMIXSERVER environment variable
(should be one of onconfig's DBSERVERNAME
or DBSERVERALIASES)
- $INFORMIXDIR/release/en_us/0333/IDS_9.3
for supported communication protocols.
On Linux, supported are "onipcshm" and "onsoctcp",
if I'm correct ...
If all these things don't mean a lot to you, then you should
get the manuals (especially "Getting Started ..."), because
it doesn't run off the mill. You always have to setup the
$ONCONFIG file and a couple of environment variables
according to your environment/disks, etc.
TIA,
Martin
