SUMMARY:Is there any benefit in splitting out indexing.

Hi Those wise folk with the wisdom commonly hold it that if you can, you should split indexes out onto separate disks from the data that they relate to. This will reduce I/O bottlenecks the utility of which will vary depending upon your setup. This option is available in the 7.x and later versions of Informix DSA. On looking very closely I find that this is in fact mentioned as a strategy in the Notes to the Upgrade course for Online 7.10.
