The latter is the real benefit to OnBar. Both single dbspace backup/restore,
as well as point-in-time recovery, are available inthe 7.2x versions of
OnArchive.
With OnArchive (when you get the thing working smoothly) you can use
multiple devices. We are using OnArchive and perform level0's to 6 ea. 8mm
tape drives, in parallel.
OnBar allows you to use one of many the many storage management products
(like Legato, ADSM, Alexandria, etc.), that support OnBar through the XBSA
standard. Most of these products support multiple devices, robotic libs., etc.
We are testing the Alex product with 4 drive DLT libs now. We anticipate a
significant thoughput increase, as well as a significant decrease in support
of out backup processes (OnArchive is a piece of .......)
