Is it possible to connect from a Win98 client, running in a virtual machine (VMware) under Linux, to Informix SE running under Linux on the same physical machine, using Informix-CLI 2.5, ODBC driver 2.12? I have got various error messages but seem to be closest to my target when I get the following: InformixAttempt to connect to database server (laptop) failed. Connection refused. As far as I know this scenario is not supported, but could it work? Anyone? I have done this before with PostgreSQL and Win95 ontop of Linux (Debian/GNU 2.1). Works well. How is your networking setup for your virtual machine? Is it bridged or something else? Networking is brigded, yes. Pinging, ftp, etc. works fine between them. Hi there, Has anyone used Geodetic DataBlade Module? I can not insert values into GeoLineseg and GeoPoint and so on. The system always told me there is a parse error about geotimerange part. For example, if I use "any" for geotimerange in geolineseg, it inserts ok. However, when I use specified values like "1999-7-21 3:11:23:23533" for geotimerange in geolineseg, it fails. In fact, if I insert that value into some geotimerange field itself, not part of geolineseg, it works ok. I don't know what's the matter. Is there anyone who can give me a correct example to insert a value for geolineseg with specified timerange? Thanks a lot! Jing
Jing,
The datetime format is important, and it is governed by the database
locale, possibly overridden by the GL_DATETIME environment variable on the
client. You don't specify in your mail exactly what input format you were
trying to use, but for a database in the standard US English locale with
GL_DATETIME not set, you need to use "YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS". Your example
would become (with arbitrary values for the non-timerange parts):
"GeoPoint((12.45,67.89),any,(1999-07-21 03:11:23.23533))".
Note that you need leading zeroes in your month and hour specifications,
and that the separator between seconds and the decimal fraction is a dot,
not a colon. Note also that the time range is enclosed in parentheses
(they are omitted only if a range is equal to the keyword ANY or NULL).
This example has a single datetime value (begin = end); an example with a
true range would be:
"GeoPoint((12.45,67.89),any,(1999-07-21 03:11:23.23533,1999-07-22
13:22:56.12345))"
Beware of the fraction: the default format does not include support for the
decimal point and fraction, and the precision is lost in processing. If
you insert these values into a table (it will let you do that) and then
select them, you will get the time ranges back without fractions. To fix
this, you can set the GL_DATETIME variable; see the discussion in theGeodetic DataBlade User's Guide: "Setting Date and Time Precision" on pages
2-11 through 2-16.
